What if, this very day, your earning ability abruptly ended? Just stopped. Disappeared.With no prospect of returning in the foreseeable future.

With no salary coming in, how long would you last? How long before you would be evicted, your car repossessed, and that pile of past due bills climbs to insurmountable heights, and nagging landlords and threatening collection agencies force you to take residence on the streets?

That could never happen, you think? Well, that's what over 6000 people - people who were your friends and neighbors, right here in Broward County - all thought. But, sadly they were wrong.

Exactly what would you do? Where would you go? Who would you turn to? Finding these questions was easy. But, what we wanted were answers.

That's why we put together a program - which is actually a collection of programs - that helps with these and a lot of other problems. First off, we began open-feedings of hot, nutritionally balanced meals. (To date, we have prepared from scratch and served well over half-a-million meals.) Then we distributed shoes and blankets.

Now, most important, we've put together programs of a much longer duration: getting people back on their feet and keeping them there. Our "Housing Program" searches out affordable housing.. Our "Job Alert" program scouts out employment. Our "Kids for Kids" helps children with special needs - yes, there are at least 1400 children from homeless families, enrolled in Broward Public Schools on any given day. And our "Homeward Bound" program has reunited hundreds of homeless people with friends and family, all across the continental United States, who certifiably promise to provide housing and a full-time job, proving you can go home again, with style and class, to recreate your entire life.

But still, to do these things, and a few things more, we must rely on the tax-deductible contributions of concerned people like you, who think they will never need our organization and its services. (We sincerely hope they're right.) But, just in case you or someone you care about ever does need a helping hand, isn't it good to know that we will be there? And, we will be here, to make a difficult situation a little easier.
