We think that nobody should not have
a place to stay.
Although, a great majority of homeless men and women actually do have taxpaying Day Labor, or other minimum wage jobs, after carfare and "hidden charges," its just about impossible for them to scrape together the move-in costs of a real apartment.
Think about trying to live on $30 a day or less, and that's when you're lucky enough to be sent out on a job that you've stood in line from about 4 A.M. hoping to get.
Working with caring landlords and property owners, we arrange for housing at affordable rates, often without last month and security deposits. To make reentry easier, some landlords will agree to accept weekly or biweekly payments. We have even been able to set up "free-or-partial rent as part of your salary" arrangements.
One landlord told us: "Because, they are so grateful to once again have a roof over their head, people who have experienced homelessness make great tenants."
In any case, what we are doing is getting people of the streets and into places of their very own.
