Out of the hearts of babes
Because there is so much need with medical problems of poor families, particularly with children, we developed our "Kids for Kids" committee, spearheaded by the teenage son of one of our board members.

Their first project was looking after a poor family with six children, aged 5 to 12. The 7-year old boy, had had his right foot amputated after being hit by a truck. Our K-F-K kids completely organized and held a gigantic garage sale; in order to buy all the children some back to school items. Their fund raising was so successful that they raised enough money to fly the 7-year old boy and his father to Tampa, where after several sessions at Shriners Hospital, he was aligned perfectly, a prosthesis fashioned, and today he walks, plays, and climbs trees, just like any other child. |

Not only has Love Thy Neighbor provided school supplies, backpacks, new shoes and clothing to this one family, but, scores more.
Through the generous support of such organizations as NationsBank, 101.5 LITE FM, and Dynacolor Graphics, we have held holiday celebrations for the children of homeless and working poor families in intercity areas. Through these efforts, children who would ordinarily have gone without, didn't.
