Remember the old adage about it being better to
teach a hungry man to become a fisherman, rather than merely giving him a fish to eat?
Well, the first L.T.N. TRAINING CENTER will result in that hungry person keeping himself fed, as well as feeding the rest of us, too.
Our Center will train selected individuals for careers in just about every aspect of the restaurant industry. Everything from bussing tables to the complexities of several different levels of being a gourmet chef, as well as the mechanics of managing the entire operation, including planning creative menus and the cost-effective ordering of supplies. Individual courses will run between two and eight months.
The meals the students prepare will be served each day in our sit-down restaurant for homeless and low income families. (Perhaps the school could evolve into a catering operation, or a retail carryout outlet, to create addition job opportunities for our students and graduates. The possibilities are limitless.)
Our classes will be conducted in a fully operational kitchen using state of the art classrooms, utilizing the instructional talents of experts from a wide variety of fine local eateries. (After all, this is one of South Florida's most in demand employment classifications, a 13-billion dollar industry, currently employing more than 45,000 persons in Broward County alone.)
Ideally, there will be attached living quarters to house our students, dormitory style, until they have completed the program and are able to move on.
That is our goal.
But, to realize this goal, we are searching for a humanitarian who is looking for tax-deductible use of an existing location that would be suitable for our needs; perhaps a motor lodge with a restaurant dining area. Please keep us in mind.
